Shipping to United Kingdom
If you are ordering goods online for your own personal use, you may have to pay Customs Duty and/or Import VAT on top of the Really Right Stuff purchase price/ship cost. You can find out more about Customs Duty, Excise Duty, and Import VAT from the HM Revenue & Customs website.
As of 01 January 2010, the current rates apply for Really Right Stuff products imported for personal use into the UK:
- Duty rate on goods with commodity code 9006 91 00 originating from the USA is set at 3.70%
- Import VAT will be due at the standard rate of 17.5% (will increase to 20% as of 04 January 2011).
The above rates are subject to change and were provided to Really Right Stuff upon request by HM Revenue & Customs. Further information regarding duty and VAT rates can be obtained from the UK National Advice Service on 0845 010 9000 (International +44 2920 501 261).
If you choose delivery by US Postal Service Express Mail:
Once your package is released from UK Customs, it is handled by Parcelforce (not our choice; Royal Mail contracts with Parcelforce to handle all Express packages). We urge you to track your package closely at the
US Postal Service website. As soon as tracking details indicate that the package has been released from UK Customs, then you should track your package directly at the Parcelforce website,
http://www.parcelforce.com/.
The parcel will go to your local depot, where the appropriate charges described above will be calculated. As soon as the parcel is shown as "Awaiting payment of charges" you may or may not be able to phone the local Parcelforce depot (they may then accept credit card payment and immediately release the package for delivery). However, some customers report that you must wait for Parcelforce to mail you a letter giving you a new 17-digit code that you can use to pay the customs charges.
