Ken Sklute, professional photographer, teaches workshops and seminars around the world (check Ken's website for more). Ken also uses the Really
Right Stuff WPF-1 wedding pro flash bracket. One of his recent students sent this email to Ken:
"I am really struggling with flash. I am still trying to learn it, let alone master it.
I bought the Really Right Stuff bracket that you recommended, but having never used any bracket I can't compare it
to anything. I'm trying to explain the purchase to my husband and "Ken said it was the one to buy" isn't cutting
it. I used it for the wedding group shots that we took outside the temple at 1:00 for fill flash, and again at the
end of the reception that night as the bride and groom danced, but I haven't done any comparrison shots. I know you
like it, I just want to know why. Thanks!"
Here's Ken's response...
Because it allows you to hold the camera like a camera and not a bracket with a camera on it. All the features that
you (hopefully) know so well are right where you know they are. Most brackets have you hold the bracket with one
hand, and if you need to zoom, you have to be a magician....with three arms. You are constantly shifting hands and
trying to balance a way out-of-balance bracket....
Thats why....
I hope that it justifies....

The WPF-1 is designed so that when you are in landscape orientation the flash is also in landscape orientation. Therefore, when you change to portrait orientation and flip the flash on it's side, the flash is then oriented the same, in portrait mode. Need to mount a PocketWizard™ transmitter? Purchase an extra B101 screw and install the transmitter to the side of the bracket using the accessory socket.
