The clamp channel on our B150-B has a fixed orientation suitable for mounting conventional body plates only—plates with dovetails running left/right, not fore/aft. If you're shooting with a macro lens with tripod collar, or need greater lateral shifting capability, choose our B150-B Package instead. Package includes dedicated mounting platform (LMT) with mini-clamp (B2-FAB) for collared lenses.
The LMT gives sufficient height clearance to allow even the tallest camera bodies to rotate freely without hitting the focus rail, even with an L-plate mounted to the camera. The LMT is completely hollow to provide the needed height without adding much weight. It has two laser-engraved scales; one on either side. The scales can be aligned with the five index marks engraved on both sides of the clamp of the B150-B to give precise lateral positioning. This is a great aid for “macro-panorama” work as well as general macro work.
