Quick-Release Lens Plates
Lens Collar Foot Mounts
Our Really Right Stuff quick-release mounting plates for telephoto lenses are customized to assure non-pivoting self-alignment when attached to the tripod collar foot. All of these telephoto lens plates have a fore-and-aft running foot (parallel lens axis). Orient the quick-release clamp so that its channel runs fore-and-aft when using these plates. Some lens plates (e.g. B69, B83) are designed with a shallow top recess that matches the width of the designated lens’ foot, preventing twisting. Others feature an end flange that snugs up against the lens’ heel to block rotation. Multiple mounting screw designs are provided where appropriate, and most of these plates have precisely matched screw holes—not “generic style” slots.

Dual Safety Stops
All current generation lens plates include two safety stops, one each fore-and-aft. This prevents free fall when the clamp is not fully closed. This safety feature makes our lever-release clamps particularly appropriate for lenses. Just snap the lever fully open and top-load your heavy telephoto lens; screw-knob clamps take too long to open wide enough for top-loading.
Double-Dovetail Design
All current generation lens plates incorporate a double-dovetail. Shown here, a double dovetail is readily identified when the mounting dovetail on the bottom-half of the plate is mirrored on the top-half of the plate. Plates with dual clamping surfaces, both top and bottom, can take advantage of both Really Right Stuff flash brackets or Wimberley brackets.
Lens Collar Foot Replacements
Our Lens Collar Foot (LCF) replacements are an elegant solution for your “heavy artillery” long telephoto lenses. Simply remove the factory lens collar foot from the lens using the supplied allen wrench and replace it with the appropriate LCF plate. All Lens Collar Foot replacements are double-dovetailed and include dual safety stops and accessory tripod sockets. In all cases, the replacement foot offers reduced height, less mass, and a cleaner profile.

For the following lenses, a replacement foot is essential since the addition of a lens plate prevents the lens hood from being mounted in the reverse storage position:
- Canon EF 200mm/f1.8 L, use LCF-40
- Nikkor AF-S VR 200mm/f2G ED-IF, use LCF-15

This is a more stable solution than mounting a lens plate on the Canon foot.
