B600D-L Set: Includes Base + L-Plate

L-Plate Set for Canon T3i (600D). Use the base plate alone, or use the L-component to create a rigid and robust L-plate. The L-component has two mounting positions, one in-line with the base dovetail to facilitate easy panorama mounting, and one offset 11mm forward to allow access to the HDMI cable port, as well as additional screen articulation. The screen will open a full 180-degrees with the L-component in either position - using the forward position will allow some additional range for pivoting when open, but fully free movement is only possible with the screen at 90-degrees.

The B600D base plate features a right-side strap boss to allow attachment of your Canon brand strap, or some hand straps such as the Camdapter model sold by Really Right Stuff.

For most camera models that fall into the prosumer category, our plate designs are now modular. Instead of a solid, one piece L-plate that starts from a solid block of aluminum, these modular plates have two components: a conventional plate base, and a separate L-component. We have three aims with this approach:

1. Offer the photographer greater flexibility. When the extra bulk of the modular L-plate is not desired, or for maximum access to side ports, it can be easily removed. The photographer still has the bottom dovetail plate for mounting the camera on a tripod.
2. Offer a less expensive L-plate for the smaller cameras commonly found in the prosumer market. Since a modular L-plate can be manufactured from two segments of bar stock instead of a block, there is less machining time & less excess.
3. Make the jump from conventional plate to L-plate easier on the customer. First time buyers often balk at the initial cost of an L-plate and so opt for the cheaper conventional plate. But these same shooters often realize firsthand the advantages of an L-plate after initial use. With a modular L-plate, an L-plate is easily created by adding the L-component to the existing plate.

Alignment of the two pieces is assured by either alignment pins embedded in the L-component (pins slide into alignment holes in the conventional plate), or a tongue-and-groove joint. This alignment system guarantees a perfect fit and also enhances the connection. Screw(s) then join the two components to create an L-plate that is as rigid and robust as one-piece L-plates.
